Make your organization, offer and relationships unambiguous. Consistency and evidence are more useful than repeating a brand name everywhere.
Start with a simple identity statement
Write one factual explanation of the organization: name, offer, intended audience and scope. Put it where people expect to find it, such as the home and about pages. Distinguish a product name from a company name if they are different.
If several websites belong to the same ecosystem, explain their respective roles. A technical site, an answers library and an editorial journal can complement one another without pretending to be independent endorsements.
Reduce contradictions across pages
Audit titles, footer information, contact pages and product descriptions. An old positioning statement can survive long after a homepage redesign. Conflicting addresses, offers or names make both buyer research and automated interpretation harder.
Use redirects for retired URLs when appropriate, and update internal links to the current destination. Do not create multiple thin pages solely to repeat an entity description.
Use structured data honestly
Organization markup can express the public name, URL and genuine relationships. sameAs should refer to verified profiles identifying the same organization; it is not a field for every site you would like associated with the brand.
Keep markup aligned with visible information. Do not manufacture awards, ratings, addresses or founding dates to make the entity look more complete. Missing data is preferable to inaccurate data.
Check the outside view
Search for the organization name and review credible external references. Correct outdated profiles through their proper owners. Support factual descriptions with relevant documentation instead of distributing copied promotional blurbs.
Then ask selected AI products to explain the brand, using a repeatable test. Record errors and identify the pages that could resolve them. Entity work improves clarity; it cannot guarantee that every model updates immediately.
Your next steps
- Write a factual organization description.
- Separate company, product and publication roles.
- Verify any sameAs profile before adding it.
- Track recurring description errors.
